The great debut .:: Grand Prix ::.

I had this done yesterday but guess who decided to crash early? |D Whooops Anyway this, god pain in the ass entry that basically sucked me into a black hole is finally done There have been maanny erases, resketches, repaints, shade. Anything you can imagine and mainly lighting was a huge kicker for me but FINALLY it is done. Adam and Honey's first ever grand prix to boot These two are slowly going places even if Honey is killing me with her color but hey, at least I finally did her markings correctly |D

Adam was full of nerves, this show was honestly no different than their last shows but with the stress of everything currently going on in his life this was just another thing on the list to worry about. With the more shows they did, the hotter Honey seemed to get. Still in control yet pushing those invisible boundaries, this mare could work completely naked and go off the cue of a feather but in competition? She was too blinded by excitement and the thrill of the course to really pay attention to her rider. She did her job well, no one could say otherwise. It was just with her rider there was an invisible fight for control at times, especially when Honey would set herself wrong or come at a jump too quickly. They were things to work on but not exactly interfering with their work, not yet anyway.

Adam took a deep breath in an attempt to relax, walking around the trailer with Honey's bridle and other tack. The mare stood quietly, snacking on her hay with little interest in the world and almost falling asleep. The tack up was quick and clean, the mare bored and not really paying attention to Adam even as he tightened the girth and offered the bit, taking it like a dream before returning to her snack. "Alright you pig, time to go" he teased, the mare glaring at him with slight annoyance. "I'm joking," he said with a slight grin the mare seeming to roll her eyes at the immaturity of her rider. Her tail swooshed and purposely swatted him as he effortlessly climbed up into the saddle. "Remember who feeds you," the mare let out a disgruntle snort while giving a slight kick with her hind leg. The two quite the same in a way both grumpy and full of pranks but today was no day for silliness, not when such a big competition was in front of them. The mare was full of energy, prancing towards the course with all the excitement she could muster up while still being in control of herself.

"Light showers my ass..." Adam muttered under his breath, glancing up at the rain before looking towards the big open waters. It was no hidden secret that Adam was deathly terrified of open waters and even he had to admit, this was way too close. He looked around, taking in all of the sights and sounds of everything. His mare doing the same, far more curious and brave as she trudged through the white sand with a curious gaze. Adam hoped Honey would far more compliant and listen better, using his brass spurs and giving her the lightest bump on the sides to urge her forward into a steady gait towards the entrance. The mare grew excited, prancing and swishing her tail as she stared ahead so full of energy and by no means bothered by the wave of heavy dark clouds washing over the sky above them. Unlike Adam, she was in love with the beach and this was the perfect setting for the palomino mare.

"Easy," he commanded feeling the mare's tension as they passed through the threshold, her head popping up with a deep nicker and kicking up some sand. As soon as he let up on the reins and cued her with his legs, she dropped her head and pushed off on her large hindquarters towards the first jump. Just as their previous show, she pushed off with her hindquarters and flew forward with both her front legs in front of her, clearing the jump by some miracle. He honestly didn't understand the madness behind his mare's method but whatever helped her over these large jumps. It was comical actually, the first time she did it threw him completely off but now after weeks of working with her he just learned to sit with it and keep a better seat despite her strange methods. The course was by no means easy, the jumps were higher and the pattern a tad more difficult but the duo did well despite the looming storm and that slight fear that sat in Adam's stomach. Being so close to water was just...disturbing and uncomfortable but Honey took care of him, keeping to her task and not faltering despite any anxiety or stress felt from her rider. Their hiccups were minor as they flew over the jumps, Adam being too heavy handed on one side as the mare tried to fight and go faster than necessary. It didn't matter how old Honey was or how long these two had worked together, they still had their mistakes even at important times like this and Honey was at no fault. She enjoyed her job and he was in no place to punish her for it or try to over control her, he just wanted the runs to be safe and most importantly, didn't want Honey to rush over the jumps or get too cocky. If there was one thing anyone would notice is how he hardly used his hand to steer her, almost neck reining her whenever needed but most his cues came from his seat and the light touch of his brass bumper spurs to help guide her in the right direction. By the time they had finished the course, he gave her a pat on the neck and rewarded her well with whispers, assuring her she had done a good job even if she was a bit hard headed about listening. The mare had full attention on Adam even as he dropped the reins and let her guide herself out, there was no reason to hang onto the reins and rush her out she did well and deserved this small moment of victory over the fact they even made it through the course without too many major mistakes.

Alrightttty, i've fixed my story and now onto credits :') <3 Also if you notice in the background, it is Sergio his stud, Simon, and Sylvanas with her little mare Sancha. They were suppose to enter but things didn't play out as planned (Computer plus having to edit pictures so, things were a bit tight with photoshop constantly running out of memory ) Anyway, enjoy the #blondesquad that is currently happening in the back Totally ignoring the fact Sergio hair is darker. Okay, he's awesome and has amazing hair I put so much detail into this and certainly pushed myself, especially with that shading I thought black horses were difficult to shade, nope, it's most certainly pali's who will give you the most difficulties but here's a tip: USE BROWN. A brown that is almost chocolate color but not quite, more cocoa color actually and multiply layer. Two of your best friends when it comes to shading palominos. I've yet to figure out how to make it more realistic with other colors added but hopefully, it'll evolve into something better
